Welcome to Your Wax Seal Workshop
Wax seals turn ordinary envelopes into small rituals. This workshop slows things down and gives people the joy of melting wax, pressing a stamp, and lifting it to reveal something beautiful.
Before You Begin
- Best for 3–8 people
- Use a heat-safe surface and good ventilation
- Keep a small bowl of cold water nearby in case of minor wax drips
Flow of the Gathering
1. Safety & Demo (10–15 minutes)
- Explain how to safely melt wax and handle stamps
- Demonstrate one full seal from wax to stamp to reveal
- Encourage everyone to practice first on scrap paper
2. Practice Seals (30–40 minutes)
- Invite people to try different wax colors and stamp combinations
- Share tips: let the wax cool slightly before pressing, hold the stamp steady
- Experiment with layering colors or adding dried flowers underneath
3. Sealing Real Things (20–30 minutes)
- Move to real envelopes, letters, or small notes
- Invite everyone to create a few seals they can actually send
4. Closing (10 minutes)
- Ask people to share their favorite seal from the night
- Offer small envelopes or tags so they can take extra seals home
Variations & Ideas
- Monogram night: Everyone designs or chooses an initial.
- Seasonal seals: Match wax colors to seasons or holidays.
- Stationery pairing: Combine this workshop with a letter-writing circle.
