Welcome to Your Letter-Writing Circle

This gathering is for all the unsent notes and unspoken thank-yous. You’ll create a quiet pocket of time where everyone can finally sit down and put words on paper.

Before You Begin

  • Best for 3–10 people
  • Works well around a large table or on the floor with a low table
  • Let guests know they don’t need perfect words—just a willingness to show up

Flow of the Gathering

1. Set Up the Table (10–15 minutes)

  • Lay out stationery, pens, and decorative supplies in the center
  • Create small “writing nests” with cushions or chairs
  • Place stamps in a visible spot so people know letters can be mailed

2. Warm-Up & Prompts (10–15 minutes)

  • Offer a few prompts:
    • “Write to someone you miss.”
    • “Write to your future self.”
    • “Write a thank-you that never got sent.”
  • Give everyone a few minutes to choose who they’ll write to

3. Writing Time (40–60 minutes)

  • Invite quiet; light background music is optional
  • People can write one long letter or several short ones
  • Remind everyone there’s no obligation to share what they write

4. Closing (10–15 minutes)

  • Offer the chance to share how the process felt (not the content)
  • Collect stamped letters to mail, or invite people to mail them themselves
  • Encourage people to take extra stationery for future letters

Variations & Ideas

  • Gratitude edition: Focus on thank-you letters only.
  • Future-dated mailing: Collect letters and mail them in 3 or 6 months.
  • Family version: Adapt for kids with simpler prompts and colorful supplies.
