Welcome to Memory Box Crafting
A memory box is a gentle way to gather the bits and pieces of a time in your life—a place, a friendship, a year—so they don’t get scattered or forgotten in drawers.
Before You Begin
- Decide what this box is for: a specific year, a move, a relationship, a trip
- Gather objects ahead of time, or build the box gradually over the session
- Choose a box that feels sturdy and easy to store
Flow of the Gathering
1. Name the Box (10–15 minutes)
- Write a title and date range on the lid or a label
- Take a moment to think about why this chapter matters to you
2. Fill the Box (30–45 minutes)
- Place objects inside one by one: photos, notes, tickets, small items
- Add simple labels or tags to explain what each thing is and why you kept it
- If you’re missing items, write a short note describing the memory instead
3. Close and Reflect (10–15 minutes)
- Once the box feels “full enough,” close it—physically and emotionally
- Write a short note to your future self and tuck it on top
Variations & Ideas
- Shared box: Create a memory box for a group, relationship, or household.
- Series: Make one box per year or per major city you’ve lived in.
- Photo-only version: Build a purely visual box with prints and captions.
